Prep 1 Forest School Lesson
During their Forest School lesson, Prep 1 pupils explored the origins and wonders of conkers, discovering that these shiny brown nuts come from horse chestnut trees.
The children were captivated by the smooth, glossy appearance of the conkers, which shimmered in deep, mahogany-like hues, catching the light as they examined them up close. After eagerly collecting a handful of these treasures from the forest floor, they gathered around Mrs. Villet, who introduced them to some new tools and skills. Ater gathering their conkers, the children used a clamp and palm drill, guided by Mrs. Villet, to make holes for threading. They proudly created their own conker necklaces—a simple, hands-on keepsake from their Forest School day.
