Duke of Edinburgh Award
An adventure from start to finish, pupils make incredible memories, from trying new hobbies and volunteering in the community to camping under glaciers and alongside mountain streams.
We are proud to offer the DofE award programme at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
Those that have completed their Bronze and Silver can then move on to Gold in Sixth Form. At Gold level there are five sections to complete. They involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold only, working with a team on a residential activity.
The award is not competitive. Instead, it places great emphasis on personal development through working individually and as part of a team towards a challenging goal.
The Award encourages pupils to develop skills that are complementary to those they develop in School. Doing the ‘DofE’ allows pupils to thrive as mature, empathetic and engaged citizens. Most of all, it allows them to make friends and to have fun.
Ibstock FestivalThe annual Ibstock Festival takes place over two weeks in the summer term and brings together an exciting programme of talks, trips, workshops, sports activities, and performances, both on and off site. It is a wonderful opportunity to extend learning beyond the classroom and for Upper Sixth Formers, an opportunity to celebrate the exam period being over. From paintballing and pottery to ‘The Great Ibstock Bake-Off’ and ‘It’s a Knockout’, there’s something for everyone. |
