TSBA 2023: A Celebration of Books and Storytelling
We were delighted to host the recent Trinity Schools Book Awards (TSBA), a celebration of books and storytelling.
The theme of the awards this year was ‘Facing the Future’ and topics featured included climate change, justice, activism, civil rights, artificial intelligence and cloning.
We welcomed fourteen participating schools and seven of the shortlisted authors to Ibstock, as well as additional authors, schools and VIP guests who attended the event remotely.
A high-spirited performance by our Sixth Form Rock Band kicked off the show, before the winners of the pupil book reviews and creative responses to the shortlisted books were announced.
Finally, the moment had arrived to reveal the TSBA 2023 winner and Trinity Plus Award winner, as voted for by participating pupils.
The TSBA 2023 winner was Green Rising by Lauren James, a climate change thriller, and the Trinity Plus Award was awarded to Dry by Jarrod and Neal Shusterman, a novel about drought and survival.
After the award ceremony, pupils had the chance to meet the authors, have their books signed and view the pupil creative response competition entries.
To conclude a wonderful evening, the authors were invited to a celebratory dinner on the Mezzanine and gifted with special iced biscuits decorated by our Literary Baking Club.
A huge thank you to Mrs Cleaves, our Librarian, for organising such a fantastic event and congratulations to the winning authors and pupils who won prizes in the creative response competition.
